Slovakia is behind us, we have reached Hungary! It was a wonderful journey through Slovakia, challenging and beautiful at the same time! Many thanks to the friends of the JERUSALEM WAY Team Slovakia - great job!
The city of Esztergom, also known as Gran, is worth seeing! The mighty basilica can be seen from far away, and this is the seat of the Archdiocese of Esztergom-Budapest, making it the center of the Catholic Church in Hungary (not in Budapest!). Preview: We are about 60 km from Budapest, 3 more stages and we will reach the center of the Hungarian capital! In Budapest we meet the main route of the Jerusalem Way coming from Austria! This is exactly in front of the large new pilgrims' hostel (12th district).
Today's stage is very scenic and challenging. It leads uphill and downhill through hilly terrain / small mountains. At the end of the day we reach the area of Pilisszántó, where there are several accommodations for pilgrims!
