From Vorarlberg, the Jerusalem Way leads over the Arlberg, Innsbruck, and Salzburg to Upper Austria. In the city of peace, Linz, the three German connecting routes meet the main route coming from Spain. Subsequently, the path leads downstream along the Danube to Mauthausen and further through the founding region of the Jerusalem Way in the Perg-Strudengau to Arbing, where the international peace and pilgrimage route was founded on June 24, 2010. Via Grein, Melk, the Wachau, and Vienna, it continues to Lake Neusiedl and the Hungarian border. Hardly any other country connects alpine expanses, memorial sites, monasteries, cultural cities, and the origin story of the Jerusalem Way so directly.

Main Route
The Austrian main route of the Jerusalem Way leads from Vorarlberg via Tyrol, Salzburg, Upper Austria, Lower Austria, and Vienna further towards Hungary. It connects alpine landscapes, monasteries, historic cities, sections of the Danube, memorial sites, and peace sites.
Particularly formative stations include the Arlberg, Innsbruck, Salzburg, Linz, Mauthausen, the founding region of the Jerusalem Way, Melk, the Wachau, and Vienna. From Austria, the Jerusalem Way continues via Hungary and the Balkans towards Jerusalem.

Feeder Route Passau to Linz
The Passau – Linz feeder route is approximately 94 kilometers long and connects the three-river city of Passau with the city of peace, Linz. In Passau, the three German Jerusalem Ways – the Jerusalem Way of Kings, the Jerusalem Way of Apostles, and the Jerusalem Way of Monasteries – unite and then lead together across the border into Upper Austria.
The route runs from Passau via Freinberg, Engelhartszell, Inzell, Aschach an der Donau, and Wilhering Abbey to Linz. It follows established paths such as the Donausteig, Danube Cycle Path, and local hiking trails, connecting Bavaria and Upper Austria on a cross-border peace and pilgrimage route.
In Linz, city of peace and partner city of the Jerusalem Way, the feeder route meets the main route coming from Spain. The Passau – Linz connection is also particularly visible in the Interreg project “Peace on the Way: The Jerusalem Way connects Bavaria and Upper Austria“ and stands for encounter, sustainable pilgrimage, and cross-border cooperation.
