Invitation: “Joint Pilgrimage Week” on the Jerusalem Way in Austria from Lofer in the province of Salzburg to the city of peace, Linz! Date: Fri. September 15 – Sat. September 23, 2023
We pilgrimage eastwards, towards the sun, on the way to Jerusalem… From Lofer to Linz for the ceremonial unveiling of the Jerusalem Way Peace Dove in front of the New Town Hall in the City of Peace Linz!
Some highlights along the way are: Lofer, picturesque hike along the Saalach and through the impressive Innersbach Gorge, Unken, Bad Reichenhall, Salzburg, Maria Plain Pilgrimage Basilica, Wallersee, Vöcklabruck, Lambach Abbey, Wilhering Abbey. And finally, on Saturday, September 23, 2023, arrival in Linz for the ceremonial unveiling and blessing of the Jerusalem Way Peace Dove as part of an interreligious festival.
Details of the Pilgrimage
Arrive on your own by train / bus on Friday Sept. 15, 2023 by noon in Lofer! A picture-perfect stage awaits us in the afternoon as a wonderful warm-up hike! We walk along the Jerusalem Way through the beautiful Innersbachklamm gorge and enjoy views of the “Three Brothers“! We will take a break at the Vitaloase and spend the night at Hotel Friedlwirt in Unken. Participation in individual daily stages is possible (self-organized). – DAILY FLAT RATE: €10 – €15 per day (depending on number of participants)
– ACCOMMODATION: Night €40 – €50 guesthouse or dormitory / gym with sleeping bag
– ARRIVAL: Meeting point on September 15 at noon in Lofer, arrival by ÖBB (self-organized)
– GROUP SIZE: Approximately 12 people from Lofer to Wilhering Abbey. From Wilhering to Linz, there is no limit to the number of participants! Please participate actively.
– DEPOSIT: €100 or pro rata for shorter participation to the association account

- September 19, 2023: Schwaigern to Vöcklabruck = approx. 25 km
- September 20, 2023: Vöcklabruck to Lambach = approx. 25 km
- September 21, 2023: Lambach to Marchtrenk = approx. 26 km
- September 22, 2023: Marchtrenk to Wilhering Abbey = approx. 28 km
- September 23, 2023: Wilhering Abbey to Linz = approx. 12 km

From Wilhering Abbey to Linz, there is no limit to the number of participants!

Return journey by bus & train from Linz with all connecting options. Program changes reserved.
In addition to registering for the entire trip, it is also possible to register for individual stages. Especially for the final stage from Wilhering Abbey to Linz, we would be very happy about active participation! The meeting point is at the abbey church at 09:00 AM with a pilgrim’s blessing by Abbot Reinhold Dessl!
Condition & Equipment: Easy hikes for sure-footed pilgrims with average fitness. We hike with our backpacks on hiking, forest, and field paths, gravel roads, and partly asphalt. The walking times are approximately 5 to 8 hours spread throughout the day. The route leads us through easy terrain; any ascents are planned with sufficient breaks. We hike with our backpacks and, depending on the group size, additionally with an accompanying vehicle / shuttle service to the accommodation.
The association “JERUSALEM WAY International Peace Team” assumes no liability; the organizer and pilgrimage guides are also not liable for any damage or accidents. Participation is at your own risk. Finally, we would like to point out that all pilgrims must be in appropriate physical and mental condition. Errors and changes to the program reserved!
