An international peace and pilgrimage route
The Jerusalem Way is an international pilgrimage and peace route that leads from Western Europe to the Holy Land. It connects countries, cultures, and religions, inviting people to embark on a path of encounter, trust, and inner reflection.
Traveling independently and autonomously
The Jerusalem Way is an individual pilgrimage and peace route, which is generally undertaken or cycled on one's own responsibility and is based on trust, openness and humanity.
The pilgrimage is not a package deal. Planning, stage division, navigation, and the actual organization of the journey are the responsibility of the pilgrims themselves. Flexibility, openness, and good preparation are essential components of the pilgrimage.
In addition, there is also guided pilgrimages along the route, offered in cooperation with local guides and relating to individual sections or the entire Jerusalem Way.
Pilgrimage on the Jerusalem Way
Many pilgrims walk this path:
• alone or in small groups
• with or without tent
• over shorter sections or across several countries
Reservations are usually not required. Improvisation, trust, and flexibility are as much a part of the journey as unexpected encounters, helpfulness, and profound human experiences.
The Jerusalem Way is walked by people from all over Europe and beyond – regardless of religion, origin or worldview.
Route & Navigation
The Jerusalem Way follows a deliberate west-east orientation – from the historical pilgrimage routes of Western Europe to the places of origin of the Abrahamic religions in the east.
Navigation is done via GPS tracks in the MAPY appIn addition, we have been working for years on our own Jerusalem Way app, the development of which is now in its final phase. This app will serve as the official digital companion (navigation, offline maps, pilgrim network, virtual stamps). Its release is planned for spring 2026.
Important NOTE
The Jerusalem Way leads through many countries and cultural regions, including sensitive areas. Pilgrims always bear personal responsibility for:
• Preparation and stage planning
• Compliance with local laws and customs
• Respectful behavior towards people and religious sites
The path is explicitly not political, but rather a path of peace and encounter.
