Description

This stage leads us through slightly hilly terrain in the same corridor as the national road NA-1110 and the A-12 motorway from Puente la Reina to Estella, where we cross both roads several times. The work on the A-12 was only completed at the beginning of this century, and various paths, including pilgrimage routes, were canceled and newly created, so older documentation is no longer valid, which the bike pilgrim also had to find out on one of the photos. Today we pass through a few smaller places worth seeing such as Villatuerta, Lorca, Cirauqui and Mañeru where it is worthwhile to enjoy the old houses, streets and corners. The stage town of Puente la Reina is known for the “Puente de los Peregrinos” over the Rio Arga, built for pilgrims in the 11th century. The church of Santa Maria de los Huertas was also built for the pilgrims, with an accompanying pilgrim hospital.
