From the border area, the Jerusalem Way leads to Jericho and Tell es-Sultan. Through Wadi Qelt and past St. George's Monastery, the route ascends through the Judean Desert to the Bedouin camp and continues to Bethany / Al-Eizariya with the Tomb of Lazarus and the House of Hope. The final section passes through a sensitive checkpoint area to Bethphage and over the Mount of Olives to Jerusalem. The first view of the city and the destination at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre form the quiet climax of the entire route.
