Eggerstanden – Austrian border – Rankweil

From Eggerstanden, the Jerusalem Way first leads across the highlands of the Appenzell region. After the area around Bildstein, a long and sometimes steep descent into the Rhine Valley plain begins. Near Meiningen, the route crosses the border into Austria and reaches Rankweil. The basilica on Liebfrauenberg forms a landmark visible from afar, marking the end of the Swiss route and, at the same time, the start of the Austrian section.
