Rankweil – Bludenz
On our first stage in Austria, we leave the Rhine Valley and turn southeast towards the Arlberg Pass. Since the valley floor is already quite occupied with canalized stream beds, roads and highways, a railway line and, of course, settlements and occasional agriculture, our slightly hilly hiking or pilgrimage path runs on our left side along the flanks of the Dünserberg and later the Thüringerberg. This gives us a bit more of a view and a bit less traffic. On this route, we also pass through a series of smaller villages and settlements. This stage ends at the Bludenz railway station.
Note regarding pilgrim stamps: There are various stamps along the way through Austria, whether from hostels, monasteries, parishes, tourist information offices, inns, … And there are special JERUSALEM WAY pilgrim stamps with the dove of peace! See the attached photo; we should have at least these stamps in our pass once we have crossed all of Austria.
