Border Area – Jericho – Tell es-Sultan

After the border and checkpoint area, a short section leads to Jericho. This oasis city lies deep in the Jordan Rift Valley and is the starting point for the last major desert and mountain path to Jerusalem. Tell es-Sultan preserves traces of one of the oldest known permanent human settlements. Springs, palm trees, and archaeological layers make Jericho a special place of transition between the Jordan, the desert, and the Jerusalem highlands.
