“From Dam to Cathedral to Jerusalem”
Dear hiking friends, On Saturday, March 8, 2025, Hiker Online, God willing, is organizing the opening of the Jerusalem Way in the Netherlands. We plan to celebrate this at 11:15 AM with a drink at Dam Square in Amsterdam, in the presence of the founder of the Jerusalem Way, Johannes Aschauer. The Jerusalem Way https://www.jerusalemway.org/ is the longest pilgrimage and peace route in the world! With the addition of the route from Amsterdam’s Dam Square to Cologne Cathedral in 2024, the Jerusalem Way can now begin in our capital. This has made the Jerusalem Way a long-distance hiking trail (WWW) from Amsterdam to Jerusalem. For the Dam-Cathedral route, see below. After the opening, a fun hike for hiking enthusiasts is planned from Dam Square to Zuid metro station. During this ‘urban hike,’ we will walk a small part of the official Jerusalem Way route. Route: https://maps.app.goo.gl/CiQ2U9foipm81nJN6 Afterwards, we plan to travel from Amsterdam Zuid station to Uithoorn with line 25. Upon arrival at the ECG building, Walter will briefly talk about how everyone was invited to this day and how the Jerusalem Way route from Amsterdam to Cologne came about. Then Johannes will give a presentation on the origins of the Jerusalem Way in Europe and the Middle East and its further development. For enthusiasts, the day will conclude with a shared dinner with Johannes and the organizers of Hiker Online. Registration is required for this. See the attachment below.
