>>> Walking together – across borders, towards peace <<

Love is the strongest force in the universe – it permeates and connects everything and builds bridges between all people. Pilgrimage creates openness for encounters, breaks down prejudices and fears, and strengthens trust – fundamental trust. In this way, supposed boundaries between peoples and religions can be Love and mutual respect be overcome.

Pilgrim information: Practical advice and tips for the journey

The Jerusalem Way is an international pilgrimage and peace route from Western Europe to the Holy Land. This pilgrim information offers you initial guidance, practical tips, and experiential knowledge for your preparation and for your journey – calm, honest, and based on real-life experience.

Basic understanding – what this path is

The Jerusalem Way is an individual pilgrimage and peace route, which is generally undertaken or cycled on one's own responsibility and is based on trust, openness and humanity.

Besides good preparation, improvisation is also part of the journey. Many pilgrims report that they don't always know where they will sleep each night – and that suitable solutions always present themselves.

This experience strengthens trust – in life, in other people and (for many) also in God – and often has an effect far beyond the pilgrimage.

Navigation & Marking

GPS navigation is the reliable basis for following the Jerusalem Way. Markings and stickers are present in many regions, but they do not replace GPS navigation – especially from the Balkans onwards.

Markings serve to orient and identify the path and are being gradually expanded.

Türkiye – special section

Turkey, at approximately 2.100 kilometers, is the longest section of the Jerusalem Way. Thanks to feedback from many pilgrims, numerous accommodation tips have been added to the app as points of interest (POIs) in recent years.

In addition, a short translation with key messages and an emphasis on the peaceful intention of the pilgrimage is available. This proved very helpful to many pilgrims when finding accommodation or during checks. Turkey is exceptionally diverse in terms of landscape and culture, and its hospitality is remarkable – for many, a true highlight of the entire journey.

Help with marking

Pilgrims can support the route by placing stickers at suitable locations. If you would like to help, please contact us well in advance of your pilgrimage so we can send you markers. The Jerusalem Way is created through give and take – by pilgrims for pilgrims.

A special example of pilgrimage
The pilgrim Alex Lafon (France) once said: "The journey from France to Belgrade is just a warm-up. From there, the real pilgrimage begins." Alex walked the entire Jerusalem Way from Le Puy-en-Velay to Jerusalem – a journey that took a year – and had previously completed a pilgrimage from Le Puy to Finisterre. He enjoys supporting other pilgrims. Open information and contact details
