On the road on the Jerusalem Way, the world’s longest pilgrimage route through all of Austria!
Pilgrimage is very much in vogue and is a sustainable balance for body, mind, and soul, not only during the current Corona crisis.
A group of 20 pilgrims with participants from Germany, Vorarlberg, Salzburg, Upper Austria, Lower Austria, Vienna, and Burgenland traveled from the Arlberg to Lake Neusiedl (about 800 km) on the peace and culture trail. The daily stages were about 20 km on foot and the rest was covered by train or minibus in the spirit of ecological travel. The pilgrims also reached the district of Perg and Arbing on September 3, 2020! The pilgrimage was characterized by many nice encounters with people along the route and good conversations among the pilgrims as well as spiritual impulses.
The Jerusalem Way (JW) not only leads right through the center of Arbing, but was initiated here more than ten years ago, exactly on the parish patronal feast (June 24, 2010)! Among the pilgrims, besides Johannes Aschauer (initiator and trained pilgrimage guide) and his partner Karin Forster, four other pilgrims from Arbing were present for the entire journey: Marianne & Anton Baumgartner from Groißing and Ingrid & Heinrich Aschauer from Puchberg. Heinrich and Toni took over the luggage transport / shuttle service and flourished in their roles to everyone’s complete satisfaction.
Because Heinrich and Ingrid’s house is located directly on the Jerusalem Way, all pilgrims were invited to a hearty breakfast there, practically in passing. Well-strengthened, the group reached Clam Castle and Grein, as well as the “highlight of the day,” the Nadlingerhof, high above the Danube in Neustadtl. The Jerusalem Way Dove of Peace is located there! The next one is at Melk Abbey and another in Spitz. The end of the day and overnight stay was at the Schlossgasthof Artstetten, where the pilgrims, as in Arbing among other places, received a pilgrim stamp with a Dove of Peace in their passports.
Note: Further installations of Doves of Peace are fixed for April 2021 in the city of Donauwörth and 2022 in Waldsassen Abbey (Germany). A continuation of the pilgrimage mentioned above is also planned! Depending on the possibilities of the Corona crisis, these are the sections Switzerland – Vorarlberg and Austria – Greece.
