Stage 3: Inzell – Aschach an der Donau

Through the Danube Loop

This stage continues from Inzell along the Danube towards Aschach an der Donau. The path runs through one of Upper Austria’s most impressive river landscapes and is characterized by the famous Schlögener Schlinge, steep wooded slopes, tranquil sections of the Danube, and beautiful views of the river.

Here, the Danube changes direction multiple times, forming a unique natural landscape. If you have enough time, you can also plan a viewpoint in the Schlögener Schlinge region to enjoy the view of the river loop.

Further path to Aschach

From Inzell, the Jerusalem Way continues downstream along the Danube. The route follows existing paths in the Danube region in sections and approaches the historic market town of Aschach an der Donau via tranquil riverside and hiking sections.

Aschach is a traditional Danube town with a historic center, castle, Danube embankment, and places to stop for refreshments. The town is well-suited as a stage destination and as a starting point for the onward journey towards Wilhering Abbey and Linz.
