From Amman, the Jerusalem Way leads to Madaba. The famous mosaic map in St George’s Church shows Jerusalem and the Holy Land from a Late Antique perspective. The route then continues to Mount Nebo, from where, according to biblical tradition, Moses looked out over the Promised Land. After that, the path descends deep into the Jordan Rift Valley and down to the Dead Sea. The spiritual highlight is Bethany Beyond the Jordan, Al-Maghtas, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Jesus’ baptism. The Jordanian route ends in the sensitive border area of the King Hussein Bridge, also known as the Allenby Bridge.
