The Way in Greece
Greece
Through Northern Greece, the Jerusalem Way follows the Axios to Thessaloniki and into the cultural area of the Via Egnatia. Via the Pangaion Mountains and the Eikosifoinissa Monastery, it reaches Philippi, the Lydia Memorial, and Kavala, ancient Neapolis. After that, the route leads through Thrace via Maroneia and Ismaros, Porto Lagos with the Vistonida Lagoon and the Agios Nikolaos Monastery to Alexandroupoli and Kipoi. Apostolic history, Orthodox tradition, and Aegean landscapes characterize the transition from Europe to Asia Minor.
