Description

At this stage it is comforting to know that a new and large pilgrim hostel awaits us at the beginning of Budapest. The hostel is located directly on the Jerusalemweg, exactly where the Jerusalem ways of Hungary meet, there is the intersection! See info below.

The address is: Mátyás király út 53 / b., Telephone number +36 20-931-1422. The pilgrim helper (Hospitalero) is Éva Szabó-Kalmár (phone +36 30-619-2170). Capacity for 28 people, a pilgrim pass is required, which can be bought there.

Important note: All the Jerusalem trails in Hungary meet right in front of the hostel! So the main route coming from Austria and the Jerusalem way coming from Poland / Slovakia / Esztergom. The routes continue from the hostel together on the route from the HUNGARIAN PILGRIM WAY. The Hungarian Pilgrimage Route (MZ) is the JERUSALEM WAY partner for Hungary. See website Magyar Zarandokut (MZ)

Thanks to the friends of the Hungarian Pilgrimage Route Magyar Zarándokút!

We are now looking forward to the common way through Hungary, MZ brings and until shortly before Mohács, this is the border area in the triangle of Hungary - Croatia - Serbia!

After leaving Páty with two more ascents. At Makkosmària we also cross the legal and political border between Pest County and Budapest, the capital of Hungary, a city with county rights. We leave Zsámbék at the Catholic Church and hike north-northeast on a largely straight path to Tök, a suburb of Zsámbék. From there it continues south-east, about 10 kilometers on a dead straight path, initially through an agricultural area, towards the end through an acacia forest. We can rest on the way at the «Újmajor» church on this section. Arrived in Páty there is the possibility to eat in a beautiful Hungarian «Csárda» to strengthen us for the upcoming ascents. A small chapel is waiting for us to provide food for the soul.

Over a first crossing we come to Budakeszi, past single-family houses, where the second, somewhat longer ascent begins. On a wooded path we come to the Makkosmaria »church, then we continue up through the wooded area and finally reach the hostel.

By the way, we are in the area of «Normafa», a popular excursion destination from where you have a wonderful view of Budapest.
