height profile

Description

Since the San Juan de Ortega monastery is already almost at the height of the Montes de Oca, we will have no major climb ahead of us today. So we will effortlessly reach the culmination point of Montes de Oca at around 1150 meters above sea level and thus once again reach a height that we have already reached with the Cruz de Ferro. Incidentally, today's stage is also the last, where the stage location is still in the Castile and León region. As a change from the Meseta, today we will enjoy hiking over the Montes de Oca over forested heights. Later in Villafranca Montes de Oca we can visit the Church of St. James (Iglesia de Santiago Apóstol). The building was erected in the same place where the cathedral and another church had previously stood. Villafranca also has a pilgrim hostel - so we could end the stage here. From the stage town of Belorado, it is worth taking a look back: on the horizon, we see the Cantabrian mountains for the last time, with which we have dealt with on our previous path
