Description

Today's stage through the Meseta is relatively long, but also quite flat. We make a pilgrimage towards the Orient - the right direction to reach our destination. The other good news: the smaller places along the way also offer pilgrim accommodation. While the first part of the route is still quite varied, we hike to the stage town of Carrión de los Condes on a dusty, shadowless dirt road. Patience is required on this part, because on the endless, straight sections you often have few fixed points and the impression that you can hardly get ahead. Our stage location Carrión de Los Condes on the Rio Carrión was an important stop for pilgrims in the Middle Ages. This is evidenced by Santa Maria del Camino and the Santiago Church and the San Zoilo Monastery on the Rio Carrión with its remarkable cloister, where you can also spend the night well-kept (advance booking recommended).
