Description

Today's stage offers us a series of ascents and descents, although actually only the first kilometer from Wattwil train station is flat. Even if the paths are well developed and marked, we still have to be prepared for a mountain stage. On today's stage we change between Tüfi and Schönengrund from the canton of St. Gallen to the semi-canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden, but we will return to the canton of St. Gallen again before we leave Switzerland. Even today we are in a beautiful and therefore popular hiking area. From some heights you have a view of Lake Constance, so we are also getting closer to the young Rhine, which here in eastern Switzerland partially forms the border with the Principality of Liechtenstein and the Austrian Vorarlberg. When we left French-speaking Switzerland, we switched to the German-speaking part of Europe and said that we were largely confronted with dialects. We can already find an example of a sonorous dialect in Toggenburg, and the Appenzell people increase the experience value by 1-2 levels. The stage location Urnäsch lies on the stream of the same name. Let's enjoy colorful wooden houses that are well worth seeing, here from the 17th and 18th centuries.
