Description

Today, too, we have a pleasure stage ahead of us. In Oberhofen am Irrsee we start in the hilly landscape of the Salzkammergut and today we have two more orientation aids in addition to our usual orientation aids. The first is a railway line, namely the western railway line of the ÖBB, which connects Salzburg and Vienna. The stop that we have given as the starting point today is a stop on this same western railway line. We don't walk along the railway line, but by and large we stay in the same corridor. The second orientation aid are the bodies of water that we encounter after crossing a hill before the village of Frankenmarkt, and which then flow into the Danube near Linz. We also stay in the same corridor with these bodies of water: First we meet the Vöckla creek, which then flows into the Ager, this later flows into the Traun and this finally into the Danube near Linz. Before reaching Vöcklabruck, we pass Neuwartenburg Castle, also known as “Klein Schönbrunn”! Afterwards we will be VERY welcome as pilgrims in the house of the Vöcklabruck school sisters / order «Franciscan Sisters of Vöcklabruck». It is the largest women's order in Austria and there is a pilgrims' quarters and even the Jerusalemweg pilgrim stamp for our pilgrim pass! What a joy for the happy pilgrim's heart.
