Description

Today's stage is also very flat, we walk on a plain that the Danube has created over the centuries, with the removal of obstacles and the deposit of debris and mud during floods. The Danube used to meander even more, but has been pushed back behind dams to gain land, which even now regularly takes revenge during floods. Today's companion on this stage southwards is the Rába River, which, like all waters in this area, sooner or later flows into the Danube. We often hike long sections on dams. Our way to Györ also leads us past a memorial stone dedicated to the poet Miklós Radnóti, who was murdered at a young age. Then we come to the stage city of Györ, a city with 140 inhabitants. On the pedestrian street of the city we come to Széchenyi Square, the main baroque square of the city. In the square we find the Sent Ignác Church. Gyor offers many sights, accommodations and restaurants. A really atmospheric provincial town invites the guests to linger longer.
