Description
Today we part from the Rhone and will not meet it again until Geneva, so only after this and two more hiking days. The reason is on the one hand the fact that the path of the Rhone is longer than ours. Furthermore, the banks directly along the Rhone are difficult or impossible to walk in many sections between Seyssel and Geneva. That is the reason why historical paths and settlements adjacent to them often follow the dry mountain ranges and avoid the swampy valley floors. This also has the pleasant consequence that we can enjoy far-reaching views of the surrounding land rather than down along the rivers. The stage town of Chaumont is also located on a hill, is an old trading place and is well worth a visit.
