Description

Today's stage on the Jerusalemweg is the last stage in Austria! This leads us from the center in Bruck an der Leitha to Schwadorf first, a beautiful, culinary and varied route awaits us today!

We pass agricultural area again, go along a stream and come to the famous Burgenland wine-growing region. For a while we even go within sight of Lake Neusiedl! Speaking of which, at the end of Neusiedl am See, the route leads us directly over a calvary, as a sign for us, we are on the right way to Jerusalem.

Then we come to the famous wine village of Gols and at the end of the day there is still Halbturn Castle where the path leads us through the middle of the area. This is also the last stage in Austria on the Jerusalemweg, Halbturn is already right before the border to Hungary!

Tip: It is a good idea to interrupt the rather long stage, for example in Neusiedl am See or in Gols, and thus split it up into two days. Then you can let this special area sink in, enjoy and immerse yourself in culinary delights. Because this section is completely different from the previous route through Austria.

Or if you have a rather tight pilgrimage program and still have strength, you can still cross the border to HUNGARY (4 km) at the end of the stage from Halbturn, where there is a small village with a restaurant, sleeping facilities and a church immediately after the border crossing. It is lovely and quiet there, you can really say that Hungary receives the Jerusalem pilgrim in a friendly way, right from the first step. In this sense: Ultreia on the way to Budapest!
