Every journey begins with a first step ...

The Jerusalem Way is the world's longest pilgrimage and international peace and culture route!

The Jerusalem Way connects religions and peoples in a unique peace project.

The Jerusalem Way stands for mutual recognition and tolerance.

Love, the most powerful force in the universe, penetrates, illuminates everything and builds bridges between all people!

Pilgrims create openness to encounters, dismantle prejudices and fears and strengthen trust - basic trust! The supposed boundaries between peoples and religions can be bridged by individuals with love and mutual respect.

Waldsassen (Volkenroda) - Passau: JERUSALEMWAY OF THE MONASTERIES

(VIA PORTA is partner of JERUSALEM WAY)

GPS is available for all countries from Spain to Jerusalem!

For details, see the ROUTE menu

Access road: Path of the monasteries
The third feeder is the modern path and takes up the traces of the age of denominational and political religious boundaries and reconciliation: It begins at the southern end point of the "Green Band", the former border and death strip of the German division. From there it leads past important baroque churches such as the Kappl and the Waldsassen monastery - past the JERUSALEMWEG peace dove - and then meets the first two feeder routes "Weg der Könige" and "Weg der Apostles" in Passau.

The whole route Volkenroda - Waldsassen - Passau is about 600 km. The Waldsassen monastery is exactly halfway, from there to Passau it is almost 300 km. The city of Waldsassen and the monastery of Waldsassen are partners of the Jerusalemweg. For some stages we have also given recommendations for accommodation, accommodation can be found here Tourism Association East Bavaria
