Cologne - Passau: JERUSALEMWAY OF THE KINGS

Access road: Way of the Kings
This first feeder path of the Jerusalem Way - the Roman way of antiquity and the imperial cathedrals - picks up the oldest traces of the early Christian bishoprics, which already existed at the time of the Constantine turn 313, when the first Jerusalem pilgrims of the 4th century. set off: from Cologne via Bonn and Linz on the Rhine to Bingen and via the imperial cathedrals of the Holy Roman Empire in Mainz, Worms and Speyer via the Jerusalem towns of Bad Wimpfen and Esslingen. From there via the place of origin of Barbarossa, the Hohenstaufen near Göppingen with the Barbarossa Church to the Holy Cross Cathedral in Schwäbisch Gmünd and further through the Ries to the formerly free imperial city of Donauwörth, where fragments of the cross of Jesus have been in the Holy Cross Church for almost 1000 years from Jerusalem are worshiped in the Donauwörth cross particle monstrance.
