Pilgrimage in 5 sections
PART ONE
Spain / France
This is the first of a total of five stages on the international peace and culture path! The Jerusalem Way connects 15 countries and the continents of Europe and Asia with the Holy Land and is the longest peace way with a distance of around 7.500 kilometers. Core message: `` From the end of the old world in Finisterre over the heart of Europe to the beginning to Jerusalem ''. Discover the cultural and natural highlights of the Spanish and French Way of St. James, in combination with the Jerusalem Way, compact and with wonderful hikes. Personally selected hotels, a constant travel companion by the JERUSALEMWEG TEAM including the bus, forms the perfect setting for this. JERUSALEM WAY / CAMINO DE JERUSAL N / CHEMIN DE JERUSALEM / JERUSALEMWEG The Jerusalem Path leads us eastwards, towards sunrise - symbolically towards life - and we are step by step on the way to the most important pilgrimage site in Christendom: Jerusalem - the intersection of religions! This unique journey is connected with new encounters every day, no pilgrims behind us, because the Jacob pilgrims from all over the world come towards us. Day 1, arrival at Cape Finisterre
After an exciting journey in the early morning hours, we have arrived at KAP FINISTERRE
and reward us with coffee and cake at the port.

The rugged landscape and the atmosphere at KAP FINISTERRE are very impressive.
The start of the pilgrimage officially begins here. A wonderful journey awaits us.
From here it is still about 7.500 kilometers ...;)
The dove of peace, the symbol of the Jerusalem Way, accompanies us and
shows the pilgrims the way through all 15 countries to the Holy Land.
DAY 2, HIKE FROM CAPE FINISTERRE TO SANTIAGO
With joy and full of energy we start along the sea and towards the sun towards SANTIAGO.
After hours of pilgrimage, we are here with the first view of the James Cathedral
rewarded in SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA.
The place in SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA is great.
The cathedral is currently under construction. We get to know pilgrims from all over the world.

DAY 3, SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA - SARRIA
In the morning we go to MONTE DO GOZO, Mountain of Joy, towards MELIDE.
The dove of peace is also sprayed there, marking the path of peace to JERUSALEM.
Again and again we have nice encounters with pilgrims who come to meet us ...
And finally happen
the wall of wisdom. It is advisable to pause here!
We make a pilgrimage through beautiful eucalyptus forests, old trees, beautiful flowers line the way.
The oncoming pilgrims on the Way of St. James show great interest in the Way of Jerusalem,

We enjoy the sun's rays with coffee and cookies before we start the last stage of the day.
We cross a wildly romantic, old stone-Roman bridge, shortly before SARRIA.
Finally we reach our destination for the day in SARRIA, the Maria Magdalena monastery, happy and tired.
DAY 4, FROM SARRIA TO LEON
Early in the morning we visit the impressive SAMOS monastery.
At the pass `` Alto San Roque '': the often photographed pilgrim,
who braces himself against the wind and holds on to his floppy hat is of course also photographed by us.

Satisfied with the course of the day so far, we reach the GALICIENS boundary stone.
We take the bus to PONFERRADA, the mighty Templar castle.

On the beautiful pilgrimage route we continue to hike uphill towards CRUZ DE FERRO, today's destination.
After JERUSALEM there are only 5000 km, the straight line is of course! ;)

Time to pause and take off the stone brought from home.
A suitable place for a common song and prayer before continuing to ASTORGA.

DAY 5, LEON MESETA BURGOS
Early in the morning we cross the longest stone arch bridge on the way (HOSPITAL DE ORBIGO).
The bridge is about 200 meters long and has been in existence since the 13th century. Very impressive.
In LEON we visit the beautiful Gothic St. Mary's Cathedral before we continue towards CASTROJERIZ.
In a cozy and very friendly Hostel Let's strengthen ourselves for the hike through the notorious, lonely MESETA.
The long path through the lonely landscape of MESETA is fascinating.

Romantic monastery ST. ANTON. Where the pilgrims wander after many hours can strengthen themselves.
DAY 6, BURGOS PAMPLONA
The cathedral in BURGOS shows its mystical side in the rain. Very nice.
Pilgrims also means meeting requirements, so we march happily even in the rain.
The famous RIOJA vineyards and lonely paths invite us to stop inside.
Medieval games welcome us in the small town of NAJERA. A trip back in time.

This idyll and tranquility on the bridge in the small town of PUENTE LA REINA makes time stand still.
We continue on pilgrimage to EUNATE through lovely alleys.

We end our pilgrimage stage today and continue by bus to PAMPLONA.
The Romanesque church with the special representation of the Virgin Mary hides a mysterious magic.
DAY 7, PAMPLONA RONCESVALLES - PYREN ES
We are preparing for the steep climb up into the Pyrenees.
Sure-footed and focused, you walk through a beautiful forest.
Sun and snow. Yeah!
There it goes on
Beate enjoys the break with a view of France.
A picnic on the mountain gives us strength, we set off and leave Spain shortly on foot.
Otto enjoys the distant view and is delighted with the dreamy landscape in the Pyrenees.
Even after hours of pilgrimage, we are fresh and lively and look forward to the experiences in France.
After the pass we leave NAVARRA in a good mood and soon reach France..
Done! What a special moment, we proudly cross the border from Spain to France.
Jerusalem WE are coming!
We were even able to ascribe a special experience to the Pyrenees: eagles circled above us.
In total we got to see 5. Unfortunately, these are not in the picture,
since we enjoyed this natural spectacle and nobody came to take pictures.

before we leave the wonderful Pyrenees.

Arrived in ST. JEAN PIED-DE-PORT, let's meet a bicycle pilgrim from Austria.
Idyllic alleys and lovely bars invite you to stroll.

DAY 8, ST. JEAN-PIED-DE-PORT NOGARO-EAUZE-CONDOM
We briefly visit the small hostel La Rose, which we already know
and announce us for the next trip in autumn :)
VIA PODIENSIS, the most famous of the four historic Jacob's routes in France: UNESCO World Heritage Site!
The Jerusalem path always follows this wonderful path to the east, the sun,
towards life. Step by step: Jerusalem WE are coming.
Typical France, many avenues. Pilgrim heart what more do you want.
LARRESSINGLE, a medieval village - we take a coffee break inside this beautiful castle.
In the evening we indulge in French culinary delights.

DAY 9, CONDOM LECTOURE LAUZERTE MONTCUQ - CAHORS
We hike through forest and meadow paths on sparsely populated areas.
Marking: SANTIAGO / JERUSALEM
In between we strengthen ourselves with a picnic on a lonely bridge.
Encounters with people along the way. Always a joy and a nice change for pilgrims!
Arrived in LAUZERTE, one of the most beautiful defensive villages in France,
we look forward to a cold beer.
And toast to Andrea's birthday, which we celebrated with her on this trip.
DAY 10, CAHORS FIGEAC- CONQUES ESTAING ESPALION
In CAHORS the path leads us on the weir bridge PONT VALENTRɓ over the Lot River: Unique & UNESCO!
The famous Aubrac Cattle with their beautiful eyes.
We climb a stony and fairy tale Forest path down and
see the small town of CONQUES for the first time.
The `` Pearl of the VIA PODIENSIS '' and another UNESCO World Heritage Site on the way to JERUSALEM.
Another ancient stone bridge and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
CONQUES lies ahead of us. One of the highlights in all of France!
Truly reassuring
Slowly and inwardly we go to the SAINTE-FOY monastery church.
The tympanum of the monastery church is very famous.
And in terms of importance, on a par with that of the cathedral in Chartres.
We continue with our bus to the next feast for the eyes in the Lot Valley.

Not far from here we start the evening hike in the Lot river valley to ESTAING.

In the evening we usually have soft, even perfect light, the sun is now on our backs on the way to the east.
DAY 11, ESPALION NASBINALS AUMONT-AUBRAC
The next day, another very old and special pilgrim bridge awaits us: UNESCO status again!
Today's hikes are probably the most impressive stages in the Massif Central Mountains.
Our Johannes is the best nailer and therefore has David's Part well taken over! ;)

It continues over the gently undulating, almost treeless, thinly populated plateau in the AUBRAC area.
Later big rivers spring up here! Everything starts small ...
Our daily goal has been reached, just a few hundred meters to the hotel.
DAY 12, LE PUY-EN-VELAY
The lovely Rochus Chapel ( Pestheiliger ) in the high village of MONTBONNET.
Coffee break before the last pilgrimage stage down to LE PUY.
In the rain we continue our pilgrimage towards LE PUY-EN-VELAY.
Our last stage of the day leads us further and further downhill, our destination for this section of the Jerusalem Way.
The silhouette of LE PUY-EN-VELAY, the fascinating volcanic city, is visible from afar.
Mary the Queen of Peace is enthroned at the highest point above the city!
The goal of this trip has been achieved! :)
We deliberately walk through the narrow streets to the cathedral with the Black Madonna.
Our last step up to the cathedral.
The goal for this section of the Jerusalem Way, part I / V, has been achieved.
DAY 13, LE PUY-EN-VELAY, CITY TOUR, FINAL PILGRIMAGE, HOME TRAVEL
In the morning we continue the city tour.
The imposing Saint Michel church built on a needle rock d Aiguilhe.
We let the impressions work on us before we finally leave for the airport in LYON.
It couldn't be more suitable! We leave the city via the ROAD TO VIENNA.
And pilgrim Johannes adds one last sticker.
Emigration on the way to the airport, our very last pilgrimage!
At the same time, this is the beginning of the next part (part II / V) on the way to JERUSALEM.
So here the END becomes the START.
The mountain of joy, Otto adorns the shoe with a flower and with joy in our hearts we gratefully move on.
