Zubiri – Roncesvalles
From Zubiri, the Jerusalem Way ascends deeper into the Navarrese Pyrenees. Via Alto de Erro, Lintzoain, Bizkarreta-Gerendiain, and Alto de Mezkiritz, the route leads through forests, mountain villages, and an increasingly alpine landscape. Roncesvalles is finally reached via Aurizberri/Espinal and Auritz/Burguete. The Collegiate Church of Santa María and the centuries-old pilgrimage tradition make this small town one of the most important waypoints on the Camino Francés – for Jerusalem Way pilgrims, just before crossing into France.
