We have now arrived in the wide Inn Valley and could also find paths down on the valley floor where we can hike comfortably on level ground. However, the route documented here offers views and sights that make the effort worthwhile. A few notes on these sights: Pilgrimage site Kronburg: The pilgrimage church of Maria Hilf, located in the hollow south of the Kronburg castle ruins, was built as a chapel in 1673. The pilgrimage church is a simple structure with a three-sided apse; the tower rising on the west side of the pilgrimage church was not built until 1912. Kronburg ruins: The castle hill on which the Kronburg ruins stand today was already settled in prehistoric times. From the pilgrimage site, a steep path leads up to the castle ruins; walking time approx. 15 minutes uphill. Between Arzl in the Pitztal, with Café Herz As in the village centre, and the very idyllically situated hamlet of Wald, we reach a highlight of this stage: the 94-metre-high Benni Raich Bridge, which is not only used to cross a gorge, but is also used by the daring for the sport, or rather the test of courage, of “bungy jumping”. Along this route you will find not only many cosy accommodations but also Ander’s Hofschank in Wald, which serves homemade delicacies, and the Bungy Stüberl, right by the Benni Raich Bridge, with a magnificent view over the gorge,
