Santiago – O Empalme

The Jerusalem Way leaves the historic center of Santiago heading east. Passing over Monte do Gozo and through the Lavacolla area, the route initially leads through the outskirts of the city and the airport. After that, rural tranquility quickly returns. We still encounter numerous Camino pilgrims on their final kilometers to Santiago—we walk toward them, leaving the city behind step by step. The stage to O Empalme is thus a conscious transition: from the great pilgrimage center back into the open countryside.
