Sankt Christoph – St. Anton – Flirsch

We are now in Tyrol, and also in the catchment area of first the Inn, which comes from the Swiss Engadine, and then the Danube from Passau onwards. We will now spend a few days hiking in Tyrol, an area popular in both summer and winter for all kinds of outdoor sports. From the stage town of Sankt Christoph, our path leads us a little higher before we tackle the descent of a good 1,000 meters in altitude. Most of this comes right at the beginning, as our path runs along the Rosanna through the Rosanna Gorge, while the road only joins the Rosanna further down in the valley. During this steep descent, we pass the Stiegeneck Chapel, an ideal place for a breather and a quick prayer. Later during this stage, after leaving the Rosanna Gorge, we occasionally move away from the valley floor to enjoy the views and the villages, but always return to the bottom of the valley.
