Roppen – Telfs
We leave Roppen on the left bank of the Inn and don’t cross it again until just before Haiming. Before the crossing, on the north bank, we come to the Magerbach rafting centre, which benefits from the clear water of the Inn as it rushes along here, and from the unique Alpine panorama. This is where the run through the wild Imst Gorge ends—an Eldorado for rafters and white-water canoeists. Later on the route we reach Stams, where the impressive Stams Abbey awaits us. It was Count Meinhard II of Gorizia-Tyrol who founded a monastery here in 1273, which was also intended to serve as a burial place for his family in the future. Stams is also known for its boarding school for ski athletes, a talent forge that has produced many famous athletes. Finally, at the end of the stage, we cross the Inn once more and in the town of Telfs we find plenty of options for food and accommodation.
