Rivadiso – Palas de Rei
The stage leads from Rivadiso through the typical cultural landscape of Galicia to Melide and on to Palas de Rei. Forests, pastures, small villages, and old stone bridges accompany the way. Melide is a traditional town on the Camino Francés; the church of Santa María de Melide with its wall paintings and the former monastery and pilgrim hospital Sancti Spiritus recall its long history. Afterward, the route continues over gentle hills eastward to Palas de Rei. The farther we go, the more clearly the centuries-old European pilgrimage axis reveals itself—for us, however, still toward Jerusalem and against the main flow to Santiago.
