Palas de Rei – Portomarín

From Palas de Rei, the Jerusalem Way continues east over wooded hills and through numerous small villages. At Ventas de Narón, one of the higher points of this Galician section is reached, after which the descent to the Río Miño begins. Portomarín lies above the reservoir and tells a special story: the old town was abandoned before the valley was flooded, and important buildings—including the mighty Church of San Nicolás—were rebuilt stone by stone at today’s location.
