We continue our journey at Melk Abbey, which today mostly leads us along the Danube to Spitz, into the heart of the “Wachau World Heritage Site”. Immediately after Melk, the path first leads us right over a hill with a beautiful view of Schönbühel, where there would also be an accommodation option in the hostel “Haus Patrizia“.

Today we have a special highlight on the way to Jerusalem! We should definitely visit the monastery with the church in Schönbühel, where you can see the Bethlehem Church and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre from Jerusalem! It is a detailed replica, of which there are only three in Europe. A narrow path leads from the monastery down to the Danube. The path then stays close to the right bank of the Danube, and we finally reach the market town of Spitz at the end of the stage by taking the ferry across the Danube. Please note the operating hours (see here online). In Spitz, we find numerous tourist facilities, a castle, and the famous vineyard, along with various options for accommodation and breakfast.

And right next to the ferry, we spot the next dove of peace on the long journey to Jerusalem! A very special place in the heart of the Wachau and directly next to the Danube! And there is a pilgrim stamp! The stamp is available at the Tourism Info office (the office is exactly at the end of the GPS route, about 150 meters after the dove of peace). Note: Ask for the “JERUSALEM WAY stamp” at the office, otherwise you might get a different stamp.
