León – Reliegos

Beyond León, the landscape opens up to the Meseta, the vast Castilian plateau. Passing through Puente Villarente and Mansilla de las Mulas, the Jerusalem Way leads through open fields, small villages, and a landscape stretching increasingly toward the horizon to Reliegos. The challenge lies less in steep climbs than in the sun, wind, and long stretches with little shade. It is precisely this reduction to the path, sky, and horizon that defines the unique character of the Meseta, giving the pilgrimage a calm, steady rhythm.
