After dealing with the Alps in recent stages, today’s stage is a welcome change. We walk through gently rolling terrain and enjoy green meadows, agricultural fields, forests and varied views. A first change is offered by Lake Wallersee, where the path leads us directly along the shore. Along the way we pass a beach where you can take a refreshing swim, especially in the warmer seasons. In this lovely landscape we also come across inviting inns again and again. Only towards the end of the stage do we come to an ascent of a good 100 meters in altitude, at whose culmination point a small chapel awaits us, the Hager Chapel. It was donated in 1738 by a Jakob Hager as thanks for his safe return from a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. This could inspire us to think about how we want to show our gratitude after a safe return from Jerusalem. Our stage ends at the ÖBB stop Oberhofen/Zell am Moos. Here we are in the border area between the state of Salzburg and Upper Austria.
