Astorga – Villadangos del Páramo
From Astorga, the Jerusalem Way leads into the wide plain of the Páramo. A highlight is Hospital de Órbigo with its long medieval bridge. Here, in 1434, the knight Suero de Quiñones and his companions held the famous tournament “Paso Honroso,” which is closely connected to European knightly and pilgrimage history. After that, the landscape becomes more open and flat before reaching Villadangos del Páramo. The transition from the historic city to the expanse of the Castilian plain is particularly evident on this stage.
