About Us...
The Jerusalem Way – An international peace and pilgrimage route
The Jerusalem Way It is the world's longest international peace and pilgrimage route. It connects people and countries on a path of encounter, dialogue, and peace – from Finisterre on the Atlantic coast, through Europe and the Middle East, to... Jerusalem, the city of peace.
Establishment of the route (2010)
The route was established in the year 2010 by Johannes Aschauer Together with two companions, the route was explored for the first time in its entirety as a pilgrimage – across more than 15 countries to Jerusalem.
Vision: "The path connects – across borders, cultures and religions."
Founding of the association (2014)
To coordinate peace, cultural and educational work at the international level, 2014 the Union JERUSALEM WAY International Peace Team eV founded.
Founding members: Johannes Aschauer (Founder and Chairman), Otto Klär (Deputy Chairman), David Zwilling (Treasurer), Karin Forster (Secretary), Karl Moharitsch (Deputy Treasurer).
The founding members still maintain contact with the Jerusalem Way and support the international development of the project.
Today, the association connects people from many countries and cooperates with communities, universities, religious institutions, NGOs, and cultural institutions along the route.

Our structure and working methods
The Jerusalem Way is an international peace and pilgrimage movement that grows organically. Our network is not formed through formal memberships, but through genuine commitment, responsible collaboration, and a long-standing connection to the vision of the Way.
Therefore, we only accept new full members – those with voting rights – if they actively contribute to the project's development over an extended period, assume local responsibility, and represent the Jerusalem Way in their country. This quality-oriented approach ensures that the entire process remains authentic, credible, and sustainable.
Numerous other individuals, partner organizations, communities, and "House of Hope" contact points support the Jerusalem Way as contributing members or cooperation partners. They are involved in the annual general meetings and contribute valuable personal experience and local knowledge – an essential element of our collective knowledge and international cooperation along the route.
This has created a vibrant community along the route in 19 countries, all working together towards one goal: to strengthen the Jerusalem Way as a bridge of peace between cultures, religions and people.
