SPAIN TO FRANCE

Hiking and culture from the Spanish Atlantic coast in Finisterre via Santiago de Compostela and the Pyrenees to the pilgrimage center of Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port (France).

 

This is the first of a total of seven stages on the international peace and culture path! The Jerusalem Way connects 15 countries and the continents Europe and Asia with the Holy Land and is the longest peace route with a distance of about 7.500 kilometers. Key message: "From the end of the old world in Finisterre through the heart of Europe to the beginning of Jerusalem".

 

We experience the very special scenic and cultural highlights, hike from the Spanish Atlantic coast in Finisterre - the end of the old world and at the same time the beginning of the Jerusalem Way - to Santiago de Compostela, through the Cantabrian Mountains and the Mesta and after crossing the Pyrenees we reach the pilgrim stronghold of Saint -Jean-Pied-de-Port in France! Discover the cultural and natural highlights on the Jerusalem Way, compact and with a lot of peace! Professionally guided hiking and cultural tours, personally selected hotels, constant travel companions from the JERUSALEMWEG TEAM including the bus, provide the perfect setting for this.

Some of the highlights are: Finisterre, Santiago de Compostela with the imposing cathedral and tomb of Apostle James, Galicia, Astorga with the Episcopal Palace of Gaudí, Cruz de Ferro the great pilgrim cross, León Basilica San Isidoro, Burgos Cathedral, Spanish Meseta, Rioja wine region with capital Logroño, Pamplona, cross the pass on foot in the Pyrenees and then the border to France, St.-Jean-Pied-de-Port, ...
